How to Turn Your Rental into a Home

Living in a rental home can feel like a limbo stage. You are in a house, a house that is yours, but not really yours. The itch to decorate and make it your own starts to set in, but you are unsure of the “can” and “cannot”s of the rental home world. The answer is always “no” unless you ask, so it is best to ask your landlord/property managers to obtain the owner’s approval on any changes you wish to make. Not sure where to start or what to ask? Here are a few ideas to get you started on

What’s That Smell?

If you love to cook, there is nothing better than the smell of a good dinner or a freshly baked pastry. When guests come over, you love to hear “wow, your house smells splendid!” and you pat yourself on the back for a job well done. What you don’t want when company comes over the next day is to be met with scrunched faces, pinched noses, and “oh my goodness, what is that smell?”. That smell, dear culinaire extraordinaire, is the remnants of splatters from your lovely dinner in the nooks and crannies of your kitchen.   Here are some

How to Deep Clean Your House

House cleaning can be a daunting task. It requires a lot of energy, stamina, and some good ol’ elbow grease. It quickly begins to feel like you are not only cleaning, but getting a workout in as well. There are several good reason why. .

As the title of this blog states, there are several good reasons why . . . . .  you will not find this type of lock box on any of our active listings. First and foremost, these type of lockboxes are NOT secure. A prospective buyer could have the opportunity to see the code written down, or even punched in at a listing appointment. Secondly, we cannot monitor the activity on it. Anyone who may have seen the code entered could access the property and we would have no way of knowing who or when they entered.  This could be potentially dangerous if

How many of these will it take for you to finally be in your dream home?

Unfortunately, most first-time home buyers assume that their very first home should be their “dream” home. I say, “unfortunately” because that is really not the case. Happy Birthday Dunlap Team Real Estate!

February 16, was our “official” birthday!  We are celebrating over 5 years in business as Dunlap Team Real Estate. In 2011, we started with just the two of us (Bill and Robin Dunlap) in a small office on the Square of Historic Pendleton.  We didn’t stay in that office very long because we outgrew it. We are still on the Square, but in a larger office. . . .  and it is pretty full. What started out as a “small” office has now become an office with 11 agents and a full-time closing coordinator.  All of us have different backgrounds
